In Texas most material sources for concrete and asphalt plants are an average of 60 to 70 miles from the actual concrete and asphalt facilities. The majority of these materials are transported by truck.

On October 6, 1980 Pioneer Concrete of Texas, Inc., an aggregate and concrete supplier, entered into a joint venture agreement with Randy Wyatt to form, organize and manage a stand-alone trucking company. Randy started the company with the first terminal in San Antonio, Texas where he leased 30 trucks from independent contractors, a small office, and hired three employees to help run the business. The company was named Aggregate Haulers, Inc. The company subsequently opened terminals in Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Bridgeport and Austin.

The joint venture agreement between Pioneer and Randy Wyatt was dissolved in 1983. However, Randy remained on as its Vice-President and General Manager. Later, in 1992, he was promoted to President. In 1999 Con-Agg Transportation, a trucking company owned by Hanson Aggregates and operated out of Mexia, Texas was purchased by Aggregate Haulers.

In mid 2000, Hanson, PLC (an international building materials company) acquired the shares of Pioneer's worldwide operations, in a $3+ billion acquisition to form the world's largest aggregate company. This acquisition transferred the ownership of Aggregate Haulers, Inc. to Hanson. Hanson's core businesses were the production of aggregates, bricks, roof tiles, and with this acquisition, ready-mixed concrete.

Hanson did not consider the transportation of aggregates to be a core business. Aggregate Haulers, Inc. had just completed the purchase of their Con-Agg business and there was no interest shown for future expansion. In early 2001, Randy made the management of Hanson aware that if they again looked to divest a non-core business (trucking), he would like to be the person to acquire it. Hanson accepted his offer, and in September of 2001, negotiations began. The acquisition of the assets of Aggregate Haulers, Inc. was finalized April 1, 2002, making Randy Wyatt the owner of a newly formed entity " Aggregate Haulers, L.P."

Today, Aggregate Haulers, L.P. operates in five (5) Texas markets; Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Austin and Mexia utilizing in excess of 750 trucks, (over 700 independent owner-operators and 30 company owned units). These 750+ trucks include end dumps, live bottom trailers, belly dumps, bobtail tandems, and pup trailers. Aggregate Haulers, L. P. is Texas' largest trucker of sand and gravel and a major transporter of rock, road base, asphalt, coal, scap steel, coke, lime, and non-hazardous waste.
